Welcome to Charleston!

Welcome to Bremerton, home of big ships, small homes & unbelievable views. Believe it or not, there is more to Bremerton, Washington than the new Harborside development. Just over the hill is a quaint little business district called Charleston. Charleston has been around for a long time &, like Manette, was once a separate town from Bremerton. Most of Charleston became the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (hence, the "big ships" part of the description), but for years, Callow Ave. was the "main street" and had all the amenities a busy port could need: hardware store, bank, grocery, even an accountant & tax preparer. A few things have changed, but the character of Charleston carries on...we still have a grocery, hardware store, bank, & tax preparer as well, as a several fantastic restaurants, a couple of art galleries & arts & crafts retailers, a dry cleaner, a furniture refinisher, a bakery, a computer sales & service outlet, furniture stores, a new dance studio & much, much more! the goal of this blog is to get acquainted with the people & services located in Charleston & post information about special events going on around Bremerton.
